Salary

This position is paid at a salary range of $53,679.97-$71,151.96 annually

Under general supervision of the Records Supervisors in accordance with our established policies and procedures. This position requires the ability to perform a variety of complex clerical and communication tasks. Performance of job duties and responsibilities will be reviewed for accuracy and thoroughness.

  1. Adhere to policies, procedures, and post orders.
  2. Attend required trainings and practice safety/security awareness.
  3. Utilize effective interpersonal communication skills (verbal, nonverbal, written, listening)
  4. Provide professional customer service.
  5. Operate computer equipment, jail radio, and telephone communication systems.
  6. Work extensively in the NCIC/CCIC system and Jail Management System.
  7. Monitor video visitations as well as building cameras located in the Records areas.
  8. Assist citizens with a myriad of inquiries related to but not limited to the following: inmate information, bonding, visits (professional and public), court information, commissary, jail records, inmate property, transportation.
  9. Assist citizens in-person including but not limited to the following items: process contractors, professional visitors, bond requests, warrant arrests/MITTs/bond revocations, inmate property releases, records releases, receiving medical items for inmates, distributing work release and resource information, transfer of information with the public defender’s office, and walk-in questions.
  10. Bonding: Receive bond requests, complete various bonding paperwork, process bond payments, log all steps in the bonding process
  11. Performs other duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience desired including public contact and computer usage

Requirements:

  • Ability to type 30 WPM
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CCIC/NCIC certification
  • Must be willing and able to work shifts, including weekends, holidays and nights

Working Conditions:

    • This is an essential position in a 24/7 environment. Employees must be able to work rotating shifts to include days, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts are typically 11.25 hours with one day per week at 6.25 hours
    • Candidates may be assigned to Jail Division or Patrol Division

  • Scheduling the written exam is up to you for your convenience. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office typically holds Cadet / Lateral Deputy oral board interviews twice a month, and all other position oral board interviews once monthly. If an applicant proceeds past the oral board interview step, you are requested to provide a detailed packet to begin the background investigation process. If all of the requested documents and details are adequately provided, background investigations will take between 45 and 60 business days.
  • Yes. Lateral Officers with patrol experience are allowed to start on patrol at the discretion of the Sheriff. Lateral Officers without patrol experience will be asked to first complete the Jail FTO process and request a transfer after training is completed successfully.
  • No. Cadets hired by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office are sponsored by the agency. Not only that, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office pays Adams County Cadets while they complete the P.O.S.T. certification courses.
  • Yes. We ask cadets being sponsored to attend the FLATROCK Regional Training Center academy to commit 2 year to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. The 2 year contract includes the 22 week academy.
  • Adams County is located right in the heart of the Denver Metro area. Employees live in all of the surrounding areas to include Douglas County, Jefferson County, Boulder County, Weld County, Broomfield County, Morgan County, Elbert Count, Larimer County and El Paso County. It is completely up to you where you want to live. There is no minimum distance employees are required to live for employment.
  • We require all trainees to complete the Jail FTO(Field Training) program. The Jail FTO program typically takes 3 to 4 months to complete. After successfully completing the Jail FTO program you are eligible to put in a transfer request to Patrol. Agency Lateral Deputies without patrol experience will also be asked to complete the Jail FTO program before advancing to the Patrol Division.
  • No. We have had many senior cadets successfully complete the academy.
