Knowledge & Ability to:
Demonstrate a strong understanding of criminal justice and corrections duties, specifically related to Pretrial Services, Classifications, and offender sentencing. Possess familiarity with the operation of personal computers and software applications necessary for word processing, database management, and spreadsheet projects. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, while maintaining a thorough knowledge of Federal and State laws and statutes applicable to corrections, the criminal justice system, and law enforcement. Efficiently manage multiple tasks, showcasing strong organizational skills and proficiency in time management. Apply experience in interviewing techniques and procedures, with the ability to accurately verify information received. Comfortably engage in one-on-one contact with inmates during interviews, case management duties, and the collection of genetic testing samples.

Salary
This position pays at a salary range of $68,280 – $79,661.08 annually
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree or vocational technical training in criminal justice, criminology, corrections, social services, or related field or two years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities
- Experience in interviewing techniques, procedures and ability to verify information received
- Familiar with the operation of a personal computer and software applications to perform word processing, database, and spreadsheet projects
- Type 30 wpm with accuracy
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Level J certification in NCIC/CCIC computer system
- Knowledge of criminal justice and corrections duties related to pretrial services classifications, and sentencing
Definition
This position is assigned to the Adams County Detention Facility. This person will perform a variety of criminal justice and corrections duties related to Pretrial Release, Pretrial Supervision, Classifications, Inmate Workers, Work Release, Time Computation, and State Offenders. This is an essential position in a 24/7 environment. Employees must be able to work rotating shifts in each area which are typically 10+ hours.
Examples of Duties
- Interviewing detainees to obtain detailed information, verifying alleged offenses committed by detainees, communicating with various agencies and officials, as well as family, friends, and employers of detainees
- Utilize law enforcement databases; prepare a variety of related documents to include establishing and maintaining files
- Serves as an officer of the court in various hearings and is required to testify in court
- Work involves managing and coordinating housing assignments and inmate labor jobs according to risk, for inmates confined to Detention Facility
- Supervise defendants charged with felonies; misdemeanors, traffic or petty offenses that are placed in a Court Services program while in custody and when released pending court deposition
- General clerical tasks, extensive computer entry into local and state systems.

- Collecting genetic testing buccal swab samples as mandated by state statute
- Interview newly arrested inmate for Pre-trial Release, Supervised Release, Classifications, Inmate Worker and Work Release consideration
- Review, verify, and approve client/inmate to work release, inmate worker programs as well as housing assignments
- Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:
- This is an essential position in a 24/7 environment. Employees must be able to work rotating shifts in each area which are typically 10+ hours. Court Service Specialists are either assigned to the Detention Center or Patrol Substation. Employees are cross-trained and transfer assignments every 2 years within the unit.
